Vampirella is a comic book character created by Forrest J Ackerman and comic book artist Trina Robbins, and subsequently designed by artist Frank Frazetta. She first appeared in Vampirella #1, published by Warren Publishing in 1969.

Vampirella originates from the planet Drakulon, a world where vampires were a natural species and blood flowed freely as a primary water substitute. When Drakulon's rivers of blood dried up, her parents were killed. She fled to Earth seeking a new source of sustenance.

On Earth, Vampirella discovered that human blood served as a suitable substitute for Drakulon's blood rivers, although she only needs a small amount. She vowed to fight evil, often teaming up with humans, using her vampiric abilities to battle supernatural threats. She typically works with paranormal organizations or as a freelance monster hunter.

Vampirella possesses enhanced strength, speed, and senses, common to vampires. She has fangs she can retract and project at will. She is vulnerable to sunlight, although not fatally. Over time, she has gained a devoted following and remains a prominent figure in independent comics.
